Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

From the Angel season 4 episode Peace Out:

A 'grizzled' reporter indicates just how much the world has changed with his first question at Jasmine's press conference, which had to be cut.
"Yeah, I got a question all right... One I think the world demands an answer to. Exactly how do you get your hair so shiny and bouncy like that? What is that, like a special conditioner or..."

PS. I forgot to publish last week's script-post, I just saved it as a draft. Here's the link.

"That's a GIRL's arse."

Happy holidays! From time to time I like to go check out the Eclectic Micks blog. They have some real fun stuff over there, like Stephen Mooney's (Angel After the fall, Not Fade Away) sketch here. I'm not sure what's funnier, the image or the artists's comments.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

From the ep Awakening (Angel, season 4) when Angelus comes back.

The script translates Wo-Pang's ritual to take Angel's soul as follows:
I call upon the Five Powers... Kun, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Li... Grant me access to the being. The fire within. that it may be brought without. I call to the One who has awakened. His will be done...

The spell in non-English.

The SDK is back!

The Supernatural Defense Kit is back. It's been sold out for a while and prices have been going high on ebay, but as you see here, it's available again and for a way more reasonable price.

Side note, this version of The Final Cut is probably (unless I remember wrong) the version that ended up in the Omnibus.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

Remember possesed Cordy killing Lilah in Calvary?

Presumably to keep the secret of Cordelia being the big bad from leaking, the episode revelation is written as follows in the script;

Lilah hightails it, rounds a corner, hurries down the long hallway, looks back over her shoulder when WHAM! She's GRABBED by someone in an open doorway (and very much O.S.). Lilah gasps, real fear on her face.

LILAH: He's gonna kill us!

REVEAL it's ANGELUS

ANGELUS: I know.

He spins Lilah around in one fluid motion-DRIVES the BEAST'S DAGGER into the side of Lilah's THROAT, destroying her only chance to scream.

(I'm once again quoting Angel: The Casefiles)

Does anyone know what "and very much O.S." means?

I got my sketchbooks!

So I just got my two Stephen Mooney sketchbooks, which includes all sorts of sketches from the Angel comics he drew, and also of indivudual comissions.

He also sent me a sketch of Angel (by misstake, he meant to send it to someone else, but I got to keep it), seen below (my scanner sucks, the sketch if actually darker and has blue outlines).

To se a bigger version of the sketch click here.

He was also kind enough to sign both of the books, right below his printed name on the front.

More info on the sold out sketchbook(but nag him and he might do a second printing).

Ebay bargains

It was a while since I posted about any bargains I've found on ebay, so I thought I would share two:

Both are from the same seller and he/she told me combined shipping would be fine.

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script.

A line cut from Tomorrow (last ep of season 3 of Angel).

Lilah enjoys the potential for irony in her conversation with Wes.
"Cheer up. Angel find the kid with blood on his hands, he might just prove you right about that propechy: 'The father will kill the son.' OOO! Maybe he'll slit his throat."

This excerpt might have been intended for this or this conversation.

I've been thinking about religion...

...and my religion is Whedondom. Joss Whedon is our main God, but we believe in his family members as well.

I mainly pray to the demi-God Hot Platina, but I worship more entities from the Goddom of Buffy & Angel, for example The Chosen One and The Broody One. But I also recognize the awesomeness of the other Jossverses and their demi-Gods.

Some verses I have more fate in than others, for example I hold the Firefly-verse above the Dollhouse-verse.

It's a very individual religion, you can choose what or who to worship without the other Jossverses wanting to stake you (that would be "crucify" for Christians). Normally. Some fanatics (a.k.a. fanboys and fangirls) could overreact in case you don't worship "correctly".

Even tough this is a relatively individual religion, there's a few commendments, do's and don'ts. Here are a few:

* Do not call Season 8 "Just a comic", even tough Joss Whedon has confirmed it to be canon. Unless he un-canonize the comic, IT'S CANON. Period. You may argue that it's not as canon as the TV-show, but It. Is. Canon.

* Do not claim that Spuffy is better than Bangel, or vice versa. You may have a preference, and appreaciate different aspects of one relationship while dislikeing the other relationship, but unless you wish to start a holy war, do not say that one shipping 'rules' while the other one 'sucks'. There will be blood.

* No character is perfect.

* No writer is perfect.

*There is never only ONE absolute true interpretation of anything that happens on the show (sometimes even God's interpretation can be disgareed with). Holding your interpretation above other worshippers and calling the people who disagree with you non-believers or 'fanboys' och 'fangirls' when your patience leaves you is a death sin (lucky for us tough, in this religion we believe in resurrection, returning from the dead, so committing death sins? Not that big a deal.).

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

A excerpt from the episode The Magic Bullet (Angel, season 4), my favorite Fred-centered episode. We get to see the tough, can-survivewhile-being-hunted-while-still-remaining-herself Fred.

In the original script Jasmine's powers were slightly exaggerated, as explained by one of the faithful on open mike night:

"I've been legally blind for the past twelve years. I heard Jasmine on the radio last night and when I woke up this morning... I could see - I could se..."
The above screencap is from when Connor and Angel are singing "Oh Jasmine".

MY THOUGHTS Why is Riley working for Twilight?

Why is Riley working for Twilight?

Here's how it could have happened:
Sam (Riley's wife) and a slayer got into a argument. The slayer kills Sam, accidentally. Riley kills the slayer out of anger, but later regrets it. But all Twilight has seen is Riley killing a (somewhat) innocent slayer. He approaches Riley to make him an deal;
.
To help kill the girl responsible for giving the slayers power, Buffy. He might even have given him a speech of how all magic is bad and needs to be banished (this is assuming he doesn't want to keep Riley in the dark, like he could be doing with Amy and Warren).
.
Riley knows he got no choice. If he refuses Twilight might kill him, and even tough he doesn't care much about his own life anymore, he still cares about Buffy, and doesn't blame her. Or maybe he does. Maybe he could bring up Gigi and Simone as examples of Buffy's judgement when talking to her, which will add to the 'Buffy wonders if she made the right decision in Chosen-theme of the season. But Riley still wants Buffy alive because he realizes that they still fight on the same side and he's not, you know, a murderer.
.
So Riley's kind of a double agent. And he let himself get branded with Twilight's mark to show loyalty.
.
But what he doesn't know, is that the mark ties him to Twilight and because of it, Twilight can read all the treacherous thoughts going on in Riley's mind...
.
(This kinda makes me think of my 'Riley is Twilight's puppet'-theory. Check it out here.)
.
Unless you haven't guessed it, I confess, I have a soft spot for Riley. Even tough he practically cheated on Buffy, I still feel for the guy. And I don't believe he just woke up one day and decided he wanted Buffy killed. So this is one theory. I could be way off, of course.
EDIT- It's now the 7th December and a month after its publication date, I have now read issue 30 of Season 8, which proves a mayor part of my theory wrong straight away (the old puppet-theory too). Twilight seemed surprised that Riley had betrayed him, so he couldn't have expected that. But how he and Twilight got working together could still fit my theory.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

I usually write about lines that were cut from scripts (my sources are usually the books The Casefiles vol 1&2 or The Watcher's Guide vol 1-3) but I found this weird/fun piece of stage direction from the scene in The Prodigal (Angel, season 1) where Angelus menacingly approaches his terrified father;

"Angel looks, well, fabulous, actually. Reeking with taste, dripping with style."

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

From Parting gifts(Angel, season 1).

The Ramsey hotel was originally called the Tamarind in the script.

This was deleted from the script, because of length:

Hank: Can't we at least take off the tape? It's more fun when they scream.
Barney: You heartless bastard. There are people trying to sleep in this hotel.

I assume this was when Cordelia had been kidnapped to later be sold at the auction.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

From the episode The Ring(Angel, season 1) where Angel is kindapped and has to fight in a, well, ring. Fighting ring? Boxing ring? Not sure it's round you see...

Cut from the script for length was this exchange, continuing the Cordy/Wesley bickering that runs throughout. As they're heading back into the warehouse after having come up with the horsehair solution to the cuffs:

WESLEY: All I'm saying is you might have thought of the horsehair sooner, not that being flung repeatedly across a room isn't jolly good exercise.

CORDELIA: Speaking of horsehair, where did you find that jacket?

GUARD: Mr. and Mrs Winslow, good to see you again.

WESLEY: Don't touch me.

GUARD: Remind me never to get married.

In case you don't remember, Cordelia and Wesley pretended to be Mr. and Mrs Winslow to get into the warehouse in a earlier scene.

I really wish they had kept this, I can hear Wesley's voice so cleary when reading the first line, and imagine Cordelia's fashionita/bitch retort.

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

Here are a couple excerpts from the original version of Conversations with dead people, when The First takes the shape of Tara, not Cassie, when speaking to Willow.

* * * *

Tara shifts on the table, like she's about to stand up.

WILLOW: Wait! Don't! Don't leave-

TARA: I'm not. I was just - my skirt was bunching up.

* * * *

TARA: You just have to stop. You can't use magic again. Not ever.

WILLOW(confused): Black magic. Of course. But Giles says it isn't as simple as quitting it all cold turkey. He says I have to learn to use my power for good. The magic is in me now, and if I try to repress it, it's going to end up coming out again - in a bad way.

TARA(shakes her head): It's too dangerous. You can't take the chance that you'll lose control.

WILLOW: I don't want to. I can't. But the stuff Giles and the coven taught me in England - it helped. And, you know, all I have to do is think of the look on Dawnie's face - when I tried to... When I said such awful things to her. I never want to see that look again. I never want to cause that kind of pain.

* * * *

I wish Amber Benson had agreed to do this(I read in a interview that she didn't want to do that to the fans, but I'm too lazy to find a good source for that). And at the same time not. I might have thrown something on the TV if I saw The First mocking Willow in Tara's shape. But at the same time, we see more of Willow's regret in the original script.

Trivia, trivia, oh where art thou trivia?.

Collected from the buffy and angel trivia guide, here is(are?) some interesting trivia:

*Sarah Michelle Gellar was away for a great deal of time when the end of season five was shot. She was filming Scooby Doo in Australia, which is why the episode 5.21 The Weight Of The World features very little of her. Doug Petrie told the BBC Buffy website about how they thought of a way to overcome the problem:

“We knew for some weeks in advance what her schedule would be like and we were all very interested in accommodating that schedule. But we had the second-to-last episode of the season and no Buffy. What do you do? Joss and I were both big fans of the Dr Strange comics. Dr Strange was a mystic magician who lived in Greenwich Village, New York and could leave his body. His astral self would go off on these adventures.”

*The telepathic voice of Buffy in 7.11 Showtime was not the voice of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the original airing of the episode. She was unavailable to record her voice for the U.S. version, but it was her voice when this episode aired in the UK and Australia.

[Anyone from the US who noticed the difference? I assume it's her voice on the DVD.]

*5.22 The Gift was the last original Buffy episode to air on the WB, and it was promoted as the “series finale” and not the “season finale”. The final two seasons of Buffy aired on UPN.

[This I think was rather mean, to the audience-members who didn't know about the UPN move.]

*The translation of Willow’s Turkish spell to get the Bringer to talk in 7.20 Touched is, (according to the script):
“You are getting very sleepy. Very, very sleepy. I do not have a pocket watch but then again you do not have eyes.”

The actual translation is: “Eyeless man, speak to us. The man without eyes, speak to us.”

[Willow should have said that sleepy-line in English after saying the Turkish spell. Would have been so funny. Warmoon(a member of the trivia site) said on the trivia site "turkish is my native language so here is the original spell 'konuÅŸ bizimle gözleri olmayan adam' as english its 'speak to us the man who doesn’t have eyes'" Of course, that doesn't sound as "English".]

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script.

From Goodbye Iowa, the episode where Riley has to realize the Initiative might not be all that good.

The following exchange was cute due to length:
WILLOW(encouraging): I bet you will.
BUFFY: No. No bet. I will make it work.

[This came out a tad more strident than she planned.]

No clue which scene it's from, I don't know the episode very well. Maybe she was talking about how she would make her and Riley's relationship work?

MY THOUGHTS Reasons not to have Kennedy killed

Something I posted over at Slayalive's blog just now:

I realize my little list is nothing compared to the other serious blogging going on on this blog, but what the hell, it's well over midnight and I don't want to go asleep since that means I have to wake up tomorrow to do the homework I should have done today(not that staying up later will help, but let's ignore that fact).

So here is my list;

10 reasons we shouldn't keep saying "Joss, kill Kennedy. Kill her NOW!"

10. She's hot.

9. Wanting someone to die is wrong. Bad fans.

8. She's a hot lesbian.

7. I like her wardrobe.

6. She makes Willow happy.

5. She's a good fighter. She has to be. Can you imagine how many people/demons who must have tried to kill her for her personality's sake? Yet she's still standing.

4. She's funny. Okay, her jealousy and general crappy attitude gets annoying, but she is from time to time very amusing with her personality disability(I'm not sure if that's a actual term, but I think it's quite fitting when talking about Kennedy).

3. I want her to become more likeable/admirable before she dies. Otherwise we'll always remember her as "that lame character who was only there to bitch and be Willow's rebound-girlfriend. Not even a real character, just a tooth ache and pain killer all wrapped up into one, impossible as it may seem"(okay, I realize not everyone who reads this is anti-Kennedy, but you can partly agree that she needs to develop as a character more, yeah?)

2. Sometimes you need someone who questions you. Because let's face it, Buffy's great, fantastic, a "hell of a woman" as Riley and Spike said, but she's not perfect and it's good for her, and other people Kennedy questions, to re-think their plans. And I think it's motivating for Buffy too. I bet she loves proving Kennedy wrong.

1. The nr one reason not to have Kennedy killed;

Who else will be bitch about? Rona? Amy? Warren? You often don't know a good thing before it's gone, so keep on hating that brat, because you know that it's likely that Joss will one day be able to make us like her, and then soon kill her.

Not bad for something written at 1 am, huh?

The girl in question: The better version

This is the most awesome thing I've seen all month.

It's like a visual slash/fluffy-fanfic. So much fun.

Watch and laugh.

PS. It's 3 parts.

Emma Caulfield's webcomic.

You can read Caulfield's webcomic Contropussy here(released early in August).

According to whedonesque Emma has tweeted that "Yes CP will be motion animation in a few months. The web comic is only phase one people".

She seems to still be adding pages to it, so come back for more.

I can't decide wheter I like the comic or not. It's something else. Don't think I like the character Contrapussy tough. Bad puns and she seems to be a bitch(look who's using bad puns now).

But then again, I usually roll my eyes at Cordelia's snobby behaviour and Buffy's puns, so maybe I'll continue to read.

Next Eaglemoss figurine.

It looks like we might get The Master next(nothing confirmed tough).

But since Brian Lynch hinted over here that the members in that thread would be very pleased with who's coming next, I'd guess Darla or Faith.

Btw, first pic found here.

Top 5 list

Top 5 Buffy/Angel Episodes To Watch When You Need To Take Your Mind Of Things.
*
*
So I just found out that my cat died. So to take my mind of things, I'm making a Buffy list, something that usually entertains me.
*
*
*
Nr 5.
Him, Buffy Season 7.
It's a silly and funny episode, but it has enough character development for me to be able to focus on the fictional character's lives and problems, instead of mine.
*
Nr 4.
Spin The Bottle, Angel season 4.
As long as I go "la-la-la, Jasmine's not going to possess/is not possessing Cordelia, lalala, I can't hear you" over the Angel/Cordy bits, I have several good laughs.
*
Nr 3.
Life of the party, Angel season 5.
Very funny and light. It has it's depressing spots, but seeing everyone doing Lorne's bidding is pretty fun to watch.
*
Nr 2.
Over the rainbow/ Through the looking glass/ No place like plrtz glrb, Angel season 2.
I pick all these episodes because a) I have a hard time choosing, b) they all follow each other, not even seconds pass between, so they're kinda the same(I didn't put Belonging up there tough, even tough it was right before Over the rainbow, because it's not as light as the others).
These episodes are funny and light, and considering what will happen in season 3, with all the badness, I like watching these episodes, because they make me smile, and it's the last time I really feel like I'm watching a family on-screen, not a detective agency, filled with internal problems(okay, there was that time in Waiting in the wings when they were still all liking each other, but since that episodes ended with broken hearts...).
*
Nr 1.
Something blue, Buffy season 4.
I'm not really a Spuffy-fan(but I'm getting used to the idea of them not being completely horrible together) but seeing them "in love" like that was hilarious.
*****
* * * *
That's it folks. These aren't the funniest episodes, although all of them are on my top list of funniest episodes, I just wanted to make a list showing which episodes I'm likely to watch pretty soon. I need Buffy & Angel right now.

MY THOUGHTS: Time for PR

This is the cover for the Retreat arc (issue 26-30 of Season 8). Hard to see who's who, but my guess is Giles, Oz, Kennedy, Buffy, Satsu, Faith and Xander. And Twilight turning away in the background(pissed off at what Buffy's about to do?)

Buffy has her hands up, and she's walking forward, like she's surrendering. Or maybe showing that she's no threat?

I've thought since issue 21, when Harmony outed vampires to the public, that Buffy needs to do some damage control before people start grabbing pitchforks and torches. We don't want people grabbing any girl who might or might not be a slayer and burn them on stakes, witch-hunting style(which reminds me of a story from the Tales of the slayers, where a slayer gets burned by the people she just saved).

I'm not saying everyone believes that vampires exist because some blonde bimbo says so on TV, fangs or no fangs(people might just think that's a special effect). But the Tales of the vampires one shot that was released this year and a few other lines from Season 8 implies that enough people believe that vampires exist and that slayers are bad, which means that Buffy needs to get her story out there.

Tell them about The Council(not too much, then people might get scared of their power to manipulate society, like they showed they could do in Checkpoint, where they threatened to deport Giles) and how they've been killing vampires for centuries, saving people, and tell them to go check corpses in the morgues.

Does anyone bodies have weird neck-wounds? Any police reports about stranger crazy people trying to bite people who walk home late at night?
Some PR from Buffy's side would be good. Of course, the public is unpredictable. Maybe they like Harmony too much. Maybe the WW2 is still too fresh in people's memories, and people are afraid to judge vampires just because they're different, so they're willing to sympathize with these "poor misunderstood creatures" and dislike this "racist" organization that's out for dust.

EDIT- Better version of the cover

Another freaking amazing 12" custom by Willowswarlok!!!!

I wish I was rich. Or at least able to save money. Then I could afford a one-of-a-kind custom by Willowswarlok, like the one below.

So I need about £250. Or for a smaller 6" custom, about £90.

Does anyone need a kidney?

Click here for more photos and see how it was made.

(The little bitty 6" Chosen Buffy next to the custom is there for size comparison )

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

This week's featured episode is Lullaby, in which Darla gives birth. As you might remember, Darla runs away and Angel later finds her on a roof.

Gunn and Angel have a brief exchange regarding tracking Darla.

ANGEL: She went this way.

GUNN: You can smell her?

ANGEL: Tire tracks.

GUNN: Right. I saw those.

I love the scenes where Gunn "get's a little lost". Like this scene, with the xenophobia bit.

Funny/naughty poster

In case you like the two sketches above, and you think the rest of the A-Z of awesomeness sketches is pretty awesome, you can buy a limited poster, signed, and with a original sketch too.

I ordered one, with a Buffy sketch that says "Everybody calls me 'ma'am' these days." (Which is a Buffy quote from Season 8, issue 1).

I'll post a pic of it when I get it.

Joss gets arrested!

Joss is a funny dude.

Link

Don't miss the comments. There was some "Good that Joss is brought to justice, he killed a lot of beloved characters" talk going on and a funny fake article was written.

Little ol' Spike.

The Spike Eaglemoss figurine + magazine is released.

In case you're not in the UK, you can't order from that site, so I recommend ebay, or possibly another online store.

For more pictures, look at the first post in this thread.
A good idea would be to look on ebay and ask for close-up pics of his face, so your Spike won't have a horrible paint-job.
Also, don't take the magazine too seriously. Mistakes are made, for example, a fellow fan who has the magazine told me "They said that the poster at the back was a picture of the scoobies in season four. Yet it was clearly season five seing as Dawn was in it.".

Auto cards.

Ever wanted autographs from your favorite actors but can't afford going to conventions?

Inkworks.com used to do autographed cards, which are selling for only a few bucks on ebay these days.

Like this one.

A cheaper and safe way(since other kinds of autographs on ebay can be easily faked) of getting a autograph.

Display stand

Living in London and having too much money?

Look no more.

Link to auction( £99.99 or make offer, pick up in London only)
Joking aside, I want it to put my Buffy/Angel books in. Not sure if it's strong enough tough.

The Evil Smoking Vampire

Here's a short, funny and extremely silly Angelus/Nina fic, where Angelus shakes his booty and teaches Nina how to smoke evilly.

Great deal.

Just want to tell you about a great find.

Willowswarlok, who's work I often show at this blog, is selling two of his best pieces, for a very low price (relatively low for his work, I still can't afford it).

A Faith 6" figure(as she appears on the cover of issue 6 of Season 8) and a X-men Phoenix bust.

Clicky.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

This weeks featured episode is from season 3 of Angel, named Couplet(Groo has returned and Angel feels threatened, Gunn and Fred gets kidnapped by a tree monster, etc etc).

After Wesley compares Angel's uniqueness to the rare volumes in the bookseller's shop(read dialogue here), not only does Lionel announce that he has three copies of the book Wesley requested, but he goes even further to unintentionally cut down Angel by admitting:

"Cover's coming off this one. I'll give you twenty percent off and a free bookmark."

My source for Angel excerpts is as always, The Casefiles vol 1-2 by Paul Ruditis and Diana G. Gallagher

Model kit figurine

You know, I like to collect a little bit of everything from the Buffyverse.

I buy books I'm not likely to read, cards, tote bags, posters, action figures.

But I don't think I'll be buying this.

A 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer female figure horror Model Kit'.

I just wonder, other than her name on the headstone and a cross, where's Buffy?

She's hot, but the likeness is not there. Also, that you have to assemble and paint it yourself is a dealbreaker for me. I have no skill.

So why do I post the auction here?

I guess I need a excuse to look at hot figurines.

Harmony tie-in

Have you read the new free Season 8/Harmony e-comic yet?

Harmony comes to the nation

That link is to slayalive.com, since not everyone(including me) can access myspace that easy.

Not sure about when it takes place(I haven't had time to read it yet).

Christian Kane singing.

Music is good for the soul.

At least this kind of music.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

Here's a hilarious cut line from the Buffy season 5 Doublemeat Palace.
Dawn shares Willow's feelings on the delay in getting a response from the chemical testing of the Doublemeat burger.

"So much suspense. It's like taking a pregnancy test... when they do that in pregnancy test commercials."

That might have been my favorite Dawn quote if it had been aired.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

In Checkpoint(Buffy, season 5) the Council comes to town and starts to test Buffy's slayer abilities and question all her friends. I think the following excerpt is from this dialogue.

Anya's false history to the Council went on a little longer in the script:

"And when I was seven, I had a pet dachshund that died from choking on a wiener, which I find ironic."

Buffy/Simpsons crossover

Emmie over at slayalive.com showed us a funny Buffy parody.

Theehouse of horror

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

The speech Angelus gives in Passion(Buffy, season 2) is completely different from the one that was in the original script. The cheerful original version was as follows:

"Passion, it is born, and though uninvited, unwelcome, unwanted like a cancer, it takes root. It festers. It bleeds. It scabs only to rupture, and bleed anew. It grows, it thrives until it consumes. It lives so, it must die in time. Passion, it drives some to distraction, some to despair, some to vengeance. It drives some to murder and others to madness. Passion is the source of hope and the cause of despair. It is the source of life and the cause of death."

Here's the aired version:

"Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping... ...waiting... And though unwanted... ...unbidden... it will stir...open its jaws, and howl. It speaks to us... guides us... Passion rules us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have?

Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love... the clarity of hatred... and the ecstasy of grief.

It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank... Without passion, we'd be truly dead."

I don't know about you, but I think the original version represents Angelus more. His hatred for emotions/passion can be cleary seen in the original, while in the aired version, he's just a story teller.

I understand that the voice over for the episode could have been read by any character, since it's more a lesson about passion, not a character's point of view of passion. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Angelus disagree with everything in the speech, but since it was read by Angelus, I wanted it to be more like the original version. Because I don't think he would have called "the joy of love" one of his/ours "finest moments".

Characters Who Say What The Audience Is Thinking

In case you guys haven't checked whedonesque.com this month, here's a great article that was posted there.

It about characters who say what the audience thinks, like several Whedon-characters do.

The article

It's nice with TV/movie/book writers that don't take themselves too seriously and let characters make fun of situations and other characters.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

This week's featured episode is Slouching Toward Bethlehem. Cordy has just come back from the higher plane, without her memory.

I think the line below was cut from this exchange.

The following exchange was cut when the gang was trying to convince Cordy to sing for Lorne so he could read her. The pop culture reference is from Elton John's tune ”Your song”.

FRED: It's his gift.
LORNE: Au contraire, ma petite frite. My gift is my song... Sorry, I can never walk away from that one.

A few cool auctions.

I just won a unopened Tough Willow tiki on ebay, for just 72 USD(plus 40USD in shipping to Sweden).

Great price. But this now means that I'm even more broke than before(I bought it with credit card) so no more ebay for me until November. Maybe a couple of Buffy/Angel comics, but otherwise, nope. I need to save up for a Spike Premium Format Statue Exclusive anyway.

So here I show you a few great Buffy/Angel auctions that I wish I could bid on, in case any of you are looking for a bargain.

The Chosen Collection 49.99USD

Buffy Once More With Feeling tiki for 89.99USD

Franco Urru originals.

Here are some pics of my latest purchased original art.

It's two comic pages by Franco Urru, from Angel After the fall(issue 17, page 5) and Spike After the fall(issue 3, page 19). Although technically the AATF art if just one panel from page 5(Urru didn't draw the entire page on the same paper/board-thing)

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

This is a excerpt from the episode Intervention. The episode where Spike got a Buffybot to "play checkers" with, and where Giles' take Buffy out to the desert so she can talk to a spirit guide.

According to the script, Giles' Swahili chant during the ritual is translated as follows; "... that which I am pledged to guard and to guide, I hand over to you. Lead her to a place of safety and learning. Give her that which she needs. Show her the path..."

My source is The watcher's guide, vol 3.

Monkey Man comic

A hilarious comic Brian Lynch has written(the writer of Angel After the fall) that kinda makes fun of Joss Whedon.

On his blog

Willow's hats.

Here's two funny pieces I found about Willow and her hats.

A tribute to/analyze of the hats

and

a fan-fic(inspired by that article) about Buffy getting rid of those evil hats.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

Dialogue cut from this scene in Double or nothing.

LORNE: ”The Propoxil Codex”? Ugh. Sounds like a cure for male pattern baldness.

GROOSALUGG: Oh no, my friend - the Codex is a valuable description of the Klarpath conquest by the Great Wizard Urd.

LORNE: I'll wait for the movie.

GROOSALUGG: Ah, yes, movies – talking pictures with no substance.

LORNE: Last couple decades? You're not wrong.

Weekly feature: Excerpt from original script

Hero. The episode when we lost Doyle.

I think this excerpt is from the scene when Cordelia and Doyle are shooting the commercial.

CORDELIA: Now, we'll have to do something with your hair.

DOYLE: What's wrong with my--

CORDELIA: Nothing, you're right. That's dull, generic, real-life hair. Nobody's gonna be threatened by that hair. Take a step to the right... cock your head a little, chin up... boy, this could take a lot of makeup.

MY THOUGHTS Finally got a hold of the new 'Tales of the vampires' one-shot from last month.

This was a interesting insight to a vampires mind. In one panel May has sex with Jacob, not asking permission before getting started, in the next Jacob thinks about killing his mom and finally he says that drunk drivers kill people, not vamps. Not sure if Jacob's morals went to hell before or after he died, but it seems to be a common theme with vampires. They embrace the evil so quickly, sometimes even forgetting what humans call right and wrong. They think evil if their birthright and that they're "people" too. Like with Harmony; Still wanting to be friends with Cordy, even tough she tried to kill her.

The last page was beautiful, both artwise and character-wise. I read the last lines as Jacob, as he said, daring to want more, to finally get Alex, to dare to feel.

Vampires aren't just monsters. They're part human too, and a few of them might even be decent people(if they have access to willing-to-be-feed-on people).

That's one of the things I love about Buffy. It's not always white and black.

That said, I think Jacob needs to be slayed.
